We’ve got big plans to celebrate this year’s 200th birthday of Vanderburgh County!

What started as a small discussion of adding walking paths to the grounds of the Old Courthouse, with the help of some inspiring ideas, grew to be a  project with goals to make a lasting impact on the community.

Appropriately named, Bicentennial Park, in honor of this year’s momentous birthday, the grass quadrants of the Old Courthouse will be transformed into a vibrant community park ideal for hosting festivals, fundraisers and markets in the heart of downtown.

The addition of large walking paths, seating, landscaping, outdoor electric and ground lighting will allow for vendor inclusive events and large numbers of people to mingle.

As a cornerstone of the community and the premier architectural and historic icon of our county, the Old Courthouse provided an ideal setting for further use. Its grounds which include 4 quadrants surrounded by a concrete barrier wall, were just waiting for forward-thinking minds to come up with a plan to give them a new, revitalized purpose in-line with the increased energy of development in Downtown Evansville.
